Futura’s Strategic Synchronicity

21 09 2008

Today we were able to stop by Futura’s art show Strategic Synchronicity. Dopest work ive seen in a while. You are able to see the dedication in every piece. I was sad I wasnt able to take any home due to the fact that pricing was $1500+ for some. We went on the last day, not as many people in fact there were only like 5-10 people coming in and out throughout the time we were there, but in my opinion very dope because we were able to chill and appreciate the pieces rather than being bombarded with people and photographers around you. Here’s some info and some pics….

PLEASE SCOPE OUT WWW.GRAFFHEAD.COM FOR PICS FROM VIP NIGHT…

Also Check out www.MADKRUNK.com for exclusive pics and information about the event….

Strategic Synchronicity is the first collaboration between abstract graffiti pioneer FUTURA and art showmen KRUNK.

FUTURA made his name on the New York subway when he was still a teenager, before becoming a key artist in the East Village gallery scene of the early 1980’s alongside Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

After putting on worldwide solo shows for two decades and becoming one of the most influencial figures in the urban are world, FUTURA retired from public life. Until now.

Open September 19-21, Strategic Synchronicity Displays his most considered word to date – a triumph of what he describes as ‘controlled spontaneity’.

Referencing his involvement with the intertwined music, art and media scens of the 1980’s, the show uses theatrical settings, specially-devised soundtracks and documentary footage to create the perfect backdrop to his new work.

“I consider it my best work. When I started on it, I could feel myself about to explode: it reflects my growth and evolution. I want this work considered on its merits… and in that sense I’m going right back to the beginning of the story”. FUTURA

If you ride a motorcycle, and your eight year old daughter is riding with you with no restrains or even a helmet that fits and she’s about 75lbs, tell her to atleast hold on

An eventful day. Always so chill when you roll with us. We first met up at the shop missing the damn Swap meet at the glasshouse peoples was talking about, oh well next time. Headed over to Rooted to meet up with the man Bert (Btw Rooted Movement in Pomona has the new stock of our fall line!). Then down to Artesia to meet the Premium Family. Premiums’ celebrating their three years doing business in this industry and i know their planning to stay around for a long while. Premium and Rooted have been family since the beginning so its only right we celebrate with each other (plus, their the only store that gives us some dranks whenever we come down). They always come out with heavy hitting, neck breaking tee’s, their steez is one amongst none. We then hit up O bar to get some great tasteful food. I’ve known the head chef there (Justine) since back in the day, like Jr. high status, so i know she’ll always come through for me with good tasting food. After Marco (our designer/Spinerdesigned) met us up for a bit, we went to the homie pats’ house (of grv) for a good old fashion house party down in Baldwin park with plenty of lumpia for all. A couple of beers and conversations later, we went back to the real hills (chino hills) for a hometown party at the homie eriks house (our salesman). Good sheit to see the old crew every now and then! much love to all!! heres’ some pics….
